Preoperative Testing
When a patient at Sierra Pacific Orthopedics is required to undergo surgery for their injury or condition, our doctors and assisting staff (physician assistants, nurses, and imaging technicians) carry out preoperative tests before the operation begins. Preoperative testing is done to ensure that there are no risks involved in your elective surgical procedure and to ensure that your body is physically capable of handling your upcoming operation.
The following are some of the common preoperative tests our doctors and assisting staff perform:
- X-rays
- Electrocardiogram
- Blood work
- Urine sample
- Platelet count
- Blood smear
- White blood cell count
- Hemoglobin
Please note, preoperative testing is based on your individual situation and the procedure you are receiving. Please check with your Sierra Pacific Orthopedics surgeon if you have any questions regarding preoperative testing.
